The Manual resistance
Recognised since the 1960s, the benefits attributed to the practice of mechanical resistance today have been proven, whether performed in aided active mode in a manner so as to accompany movement or against resistance by exercises of a force against that of the patient.
Yet, quantification of manual resistance can prove difficult due to the subjectivity of the procedure. Manual resistance can only quantify the effort subjectively and some natural human factors such as fatigue can play a part in less than optimum management.
Furthermore, transcription of the force developed, not measured, does not make possible objective follow-up of progress during the sessions.
Lastly, manual resistance can be subject to different variables from one physiotherapist to another. Therefore, it is not the same from one practitioner to another.
Performed over many years, with increasingly longer daily workday, it is the primary case of musculo-skeletal disorders related to the profession of physiotherapists-massage therapists. Occupational disorders result in recurrent medical therapies and increased unpleasantness in daily life, effects that are harmful to health and to the practitioner's morale.
Kinevolution® solves these problems.
Offer your patients the comfort of controlled effort, precision and repeatability…
Effort (or counter-effort) produced replaces manual resistance or effort provided by the physiotherapist, enabling him or her to focus his attention entirely on the patient, to guide his movement, to verify his posture, to prevent interfering movements and compensation, or again to check tension points, and this is possible using his both hands... that are free! Thus, the therapist’s attention is enhanced to fully stimulate his patient.
Depending on the adjustments made by the physiotherapist, our device can support the patient's movement or resist it (the apparatus resists the patient's effort or the patient resists the effort provided by the device). Efforts are applied to the patient's limb with the grasping device.
Efforts follow predefined curves (effort vs. displacement/angulation), that can be configured or even entirely modified by the therapist with increasingly important factors of gradient, but always in a continuous manner. The effort, which follows a gentle gradient, is safe and adjustment is done with only a few repetitions, for a fully comfortable sensation of movement.
The objective measures enable the patient to control his effort during movement. They also make it possible for him to improve during each therapy session. You can also display results of the previous session to motivate the patient and to encourage him to progress, whether by strengthening the muscle or by a gain in terms of joint function.
Making the relationship with your patient your priority…
Freed from constraints of manual resistance, you can focus on stimuli. By means of biofeedback, you share with him an objective reference for effort that he is in the process of providing, at that very second, and you have a common visual display of his curve of effort compared to your specification. Therefore, you can encourage him at the right time to maintain effort up to the gradient of a curve or again to motivate him to maintain a good result from one session to another. Kinevolution® offers the practitioner a new system of patient education. Your coaching becomes easier and more effective.
Optimise the health care course of activity for qualitative and quantitative gains
At any time you can intervene on a curve of the specification, modify a number of repetitions, repeat a series, add a new exercise in a programme of care, etc., in summary, and optimise your strategy of health care based on what you can see in real time.
If the current physiotherapist is replaced by another one, in the setting of workout on a technical unit of one centre or an office with several practitioners, the new physiotherapist can see the entire history of your patient's health care at a glance on the touch screen, therefore he can continue the health care course by considering the programme of care previously defined and the results obtained by the patient.
… while conserving your condition
By allowing you some physical rest time in difficult long days of work, by avoiding chronic inflammation resulting from repetitive work, you keep your maximum attention throughout the day to benefit your patients as much as possible and you conserve your occupational resources for greater longevity.
